Wardriving is not only fun but also very interesting. It gives you an idea of the level of computer knowledge people have and how well they use that knowledge in their own homes, businesses, and other areas.

Below you will find information, images, and files from my wardrives. I do not break into other peoples networks, I simply map them using my laptop and a gps unit.

Not to much excitment but another area we covered one bored day.

3-29-09: More of Keokuk, Beware the Dirty Beads

There seams to be some new group in K-Town. Either that or someone has had some fun with other people routers.

We found several of these as we drove around Keokuk. As well as hundreds of other WAP's to map out.

3-20-09: Quincy - Keokuk

After getting the gps up and running correctly we made 4 captures this time. For some reason or another capture 2 is corrupted but still available in the pack for those who wish to try to fix it.

This time we picked up more networks in Keokuk and again I was very surprised at the numbers. Just about 5 years ago Keokuk was pretty much bare and now you can't move a block without picking up several WAP's. Another interesting item was Interlink L.C. has not taken down their Access Points but supposedly is now out of business

3-19-09: Hamilton - Quincy

As you can see by this picture Quincy is not shy when it comes to hooking up a wireless router and surprisingly the amount of open or factory default systems was pretty high. I'd have to check the data closer but I'd guess that about 90% of these networks are open or only using WEP meaning about 5-10 minutes near them with a laptop would open them up.

Later I'll make my raw Kismet files available as well.

Sometimes you can also find some pretty funny stuff while driving around. This person had a very unique SSID.
